02.10 + 06.10 Stage Manager Training
Learn the role. Build experience. Grow into the responsibility.
A Stage Manager is at the centre of what happens around a stage. You work with artists, technicians, crew and production, keep track of timing and changes, solve problems and help create a safe and professional environment backstage. The Gain Momentum Stage Manager Training prepares you for that role through a combination of learning, practice and real-world experience.
SM009 goes beyond the classroom. The training starts with digital preparation and two in-person training days, followed by personal feedback and four supervised training shifts at real events. Giving you the time to learn, practise, reflect and gradually grow into the role.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
Stage management is about much more than keeping an eye on the timetable. During the training, you will learn how to prepare, communicate, take responsibility and respond to the situations you encounter backstage.
You will work with:
- Timetables, callsheets & riders
- Artist hospitality & communication
- Stage logistics & changeovers
- Working with technicians, crew & production
- Safety & responsibilities backstage
- Troubleshooting & unexpected situations
- Communication under pressure
- Preparation, initiative & thinking ahead
- Focus, energy & personal boundaries
FROM TRAINING TO PRACTICE
Digital learning · 2 training days · Personal feedback · 4 training shifts
The in-person training combines knowledge with practical exercises, real-life situations and perspectives from professionals working around the stage, including a guest artist and professional technician. After the training days, you continue with four supervised training shifts in real event environments. Here you can apply what you have learned, receive feedback and gradually take on more responsibility.
There is no need to rush through the trajectory. We take the time to learn from each experience and use it in the next. Any hours worked beyond the designated training hours during your practical shifts are compensated.
YOUR DEVELOPMENT
Throughout the trajectory, assessments, reflection and feedback help you understand what already comes naturally, where you can develop and what to focus on during your next experience.
You will receive a Personal Development Report before continuing into practice, followed by a final assessment at the end of the trajectory. You will also keep access to the Gain Momentum training environment for another year after completing the program, so you can revisit your learning materials as you gain more experience backstage.
